For the fourth consecutive year, the Rip Curl Pro Olas del Desierto Florido will be part of Chile’s National Federated Surfing Circuit, once again bringing competition to one of northern Chile’s most iconic settings: the right-hand waves of Playa Portofino, in the commune of Chañaral, Atacama Region.

Organized by Rip Curl together with the Portofino Surf Club, the event stands out not only for its sporting level, but also for the unique environment that surrounds it. In the heart of the Atacama Desert, the competition combines the area’s arid landscape with a surf break renowned for the quality of its waves, creating a unique setting for Chilean surfing.

The 2026 edition is a three-star event and will feature men’s and women’s divisions in Open, U16 and Master +40, as well as an Open ParaSurf category. Last year’s champions were Matías Veloz and Chiara Bagoni in Open; Tomás García de la Huerta and Chiara Bagoni in U16; Sergio Rojas and Izka De la Sotta in Master +40; and Miguel Ángel Rojas in ParaSurf.

This year, the event will award medals and valuable points toward the official rankings in the U16, Open and Master categories, for both men and women. The Open division will also offer cash prizes in both categories: CLP $300,000 for first place, $150,000 for second, $80,000 for third and $50,000 for fourth.
